Christmas is just around the corner, and we think you need a vacation getaway. Being home for the holidays can be relaxing after a few months of hard work, but why not take advantage of the days off with an escape from winter? Whether you need a little bit of adventure or just a little sunshine to make up for the dreary cold weather, here are the 7 reasons you should plan a tropical Christmas vacation.

1. You owe it to yourself

A vacation to somewhere new is what you need to get re-inspired and motivated for the New Year. After a break from home and everyday, normal things, you will be excited to come back and maybe actually keep your New Year’s Resolutions.

2. Start a new tradition

As lovely as keeping the same holiday traditions with your family can be, after so many years, it’s time to start a new tradition. Invite your family to travel with you and be the one to start a tradition that the entire family can enjoy. Just make sure to read our tips on how to survive family vacations.

3. Vitamin D

Assuming you’re thinking of going somewhere sunny for Christmas, vitamin D is a pretty dang good reason to go on vacation. Unless you’re fortunate enough to live in a place where its 75 and sunny all the time, the rest of us are craving some sunlight to cure those winter blues. Sure, you could get your vitamin D through vitamins or omega-3 rich fish, but doesn’t the beach sound so much nicer?

4. Your dreaming of a sand-filled Christmas

Snow is beautiful and wonderful where ever you are in the world, but going barefoot instead of clunking around snow boots is a nice change. Zac Brown Band couldn’t have put it better. There is definitely not a worry in the world with your toes in the water and ass in the sand.

5. The suntan

When you come back from your holiday getaway, you’ll spend the first month of the year sun-kissed with a great tan. There’s no better time to reverse what the lack of sun has done to your skin. Don’t forget sunscreen though!

6. Beaches during the winter months offer good deals

Since wintertime isn’t always the ideal time to travel to the beach, you can catch some cheaper prices on places to stay and airfare. Traveling to Florida, Puerto Rico, and other tropical places is cheaper during the winter months. These places aren’t necessarily cheaper during the week of Christmas, so if you have to stay home for Christmas, consider these affordable spots for the winter weeks before or after Christmas.

7. November through February is the Hawaiian Wave Season

If your a surfing enthusiast or need a thrill this Christmas, then Hawaii is where you need to go. The best waves in Hawaii happen during the winter months (how convenient), which gives you one more reason to plan a Christmas getaway.
