Scientists claim it is the most important meal of the day, but we all know it is really just the most delicious. What meal are we speaking of? Why, breakfast of course! Let’s speak candidly though, we would eat breakfast food for pretty much any meal, and actually do. Breakfast around the world though is very different from what we Americans are used to. In fact, I would dare to say that some of these breakfast options are heavy and unappetizing for the morning. Then again though, the people of these other cultures may think our meals are just as strange. The most interesting part of the meals from around the world though, is that many of them seem like they could pass as lunches or dinners. Regardless of how unappealing some of these dinners look, there is nothing I wouldn’t give to be eating any of them in their country of origin. Well, since that won’t be happening any time soon, let’s just incite our wander lust. Check 10 different breakfasts from around the world!
Bolivia

Saltenas! Bolivia’s famous breakfast is called Saltenas and it is just about the equivalent of an empanada, but for the start of the day! Saltenas are typically filled with a little bit of sugar and vegetables and are deep fried to be served.
Poland

Holy protein is all we have to say. I guess this is why Polish people are huge. Take a gander at that breakfast and tell me you wouldn’t be enticed by the meat platter that it is…
Turkey

The Turkish breakfast consists of cucumber, tomatoes, olives, bread, sheeps cheese, and boiled eggs. So the Turkish enjoy a cheese platter instead of a meat platter for their breakfast. Looking at this plate makes me understand why the Turkish have beautiful skin though.
Japan

I am fairly certain I had this exact dish at a Japanese dinner just last week, and they served it to me as dinner. It looks like the Japanese enjoy very little variety in their meals. Rice, miso soup, vegetables, seaweed, tofu, salad, and raw fish… aka separated sushi.
England

The English breakfast is a famous one. Eggs, sausage, mushrooms, and the very famous black pudding. Black pudding (or the dried blood filler from animals) is horrifying, but the rest of the dish seems delicious!
Mexico

Mexicans make manzanillo for breakfast which consists of beef tips, beans, chilaquiles, and cheese. The meal is typically spicy to give the body a good jump start to the day. That plate looks pretty dense though.
Egypt

Egyptians eat a hearty breakfast consisting of beans, chickpeas, lentils, vegetables, and eggs. Well, that would be a flatulent day…
Iceland

This is probably our least favorite meal on the list, but it is probably also the healthiest. Those that live in Iceland enjoy a traditional spiced porridge for breakfast that is loaded with protein and topped with fruit. It is boring, but I am sure the population lives forever.
Italy

For a country that consumes a ton of food, Italy eats a light breakfast. Chocolate or creme filled croissants and cappuccino is considered the perfect breakfast there.
Morocco

Last but not least, Morocco. Morocco, like Poland and Turkey, offers its people a variety plate for breakfast. Breads with different spreads like butter, chutney, and cheese are enjoyed as a breakfast meal.
