Memorial Day is just around the corner, which means summer is almost officially started! If you’re from the Northeast then you know this has been a BRUTAL winter, and hey–you deserve an awesome mini getaway that won’t break the bank. We’re bringing you some not-so-touristy spots that have plenty of activities, great scenery and low prices to make everyone in the family happy. Now, let’s see where you might be off to next!
1. Columbia Gorge, Oregon

For the wine aficionados, Columbia Gorge is the place to be this Memorial Day. There are over 30 wineries that offer spectacular views of Mt. Hood and Columbia River Gorge while you dine, listen to music and of course drink! Check out the Hood River Hotel that has 41 distinct rooms starting at only $99 per night.
2. Catalina Island, California

This small island off the coast of California won’t be the huge tourist trap that LA or San Francisco are bound to be during the Memorial Day rush. The island also offers plenty of nightlife, shopping, and water activities!
3. Scottsdale, Arizona

This slightly smaller city in Arizona still has the breathtaking vistas and sunsets that Phoenix does, but a more relaxed vibe. Nevertheless, there is still plenty to do, especially if you’re an art lover! Check out the bountiful galleries and local art scene.
4. Hilton Head, South Carolina
[via]
I have a personal bias but I absolutely LOVE Hilton Head. It has amazing beaches, great golf course, some ridiculous Southern Comfort food, all the seafood you could possibly eat and on top of all of that: it’s affordable! Make sure to go to Coco’s on the Beach (aka the best bar you’ll ever find) and get a Category Five.
5. Rent a home!
Renting a room or a home on AirBnB, Home Away or similar websites can save you tons of money, ensure an awesome location and take you somewhere that you may have thought was out of the question! Hey, there’s no harm in looking!
They all love so beautiful. I was in NYC for Memorial Day two years ago and it was alot of fun.
