We’re about to give you another reason to travel to Germany besides the amazing Oktoberfest. Which, let’s take a moment and say that that needs to be on everyone’s bucket list. Seriously, if you have the free time and money to head out in late September, make sure you do! And while you’re there, take a trip to Berlin and discover everything it has to offer. This city has everything a tourist could ever dream of: activity, adventure, site-seeing, and scenery.
Berlin is both Germany’s capital city and its the largest! It has a population of well over 3 million people, making is the seventh most populated urban area in the European Union. With so many people, it has become an incredibly thriving city. It’s full of culture with its many well-recognized universities, orchestras, museums, and sporting events. Berlin is also popular in the media as it is home to many celebrities. Also, thanks to its urban setting and historic background, many film productions from around the world have chosen Berlin as their location. The city is also central for science and politics, containing several research institutes, high-tech industries, and also hosts 147 foreign embassies. You name it, Berlin has it.
The bustling city is located at the center of the Berlin-Brandenburg Metropolitan Region, in northeastern Germany on the Spree River. Aside from all the activity, about a third of the city is covered in forests, parks, rivers, lakes, and gardens. These areas make Berlin not only lively, but tranquil as well. And, as we all know, it’s important to have a balance of both.
From nightlife and sporting events, to urban architecture and gorgeous landscapes, Berlin is just another great reason to visit Germany. We just strongly advise that you also book that flight for Oktoberfest as soon as possible!
