Do you ever wish you could truly understand what your airplane seat is going to look like? Fed up with relying on sketchy outdated maps? Look no further because Seat Guru’s got your back! Seat Guru is an ingenious website and mobile app that helps you get a feel of what your airplane seat will actually be like. I’ve been planning a trip with several legs of air travel, and the website has helped me tremendously.

From the Seat Guru website:

In October 2001, frequent flyer Matthew Daimler launched SeatGuru.com with a single color-coded interactive airplane seating chart. Having experienced firsthand the vast differences between airline seats, he was determined to collect this useful information and share it with other travelers.  In 2007, SeatGuru was purchased by TripAdvisor, sharing the common goal of giving members the real scoop before they travel.

Over ten million visitors later, SeatGuru is the go-to resource for savvy flyers.  From seat maps to flight search, we do our best to make sure your journey is a smooth one.  And with the new G-Factor, we rate itineraries using a proprietary algorithm, so you know in advance if you’ll like, love or just live with your flight experience.

With SeatGuru, you fly smarter.

The app currently has a 4.5 star rating on iTunes and the new app update features a ton of cool new options to help you on every aspect of your travel. Not only can you view actual photos of redesigned seats, you can book flights, check flight statuses and read reviews on seats from actual flyers! Seat Guru was named the Best Travel App of 2012 by Next Web and Best Travel App by Fortune Magazine, Bloomberg Businessweek and Travel & Leisure. The best part? It’s all free!

One of my favorite parts of the Seat Guru website is the Guru Advice section. In this tab of the website, you can find a lot of advice related to travel that isn’t located anywhere else. Airport guides, TSA rules, baggage advice and other miscellaneous advice is all at your fingertips on an easy-to-use forum! Another great feature is that you can break down differences between airlines depending on your flight. For example, if you’re in for the long haul, you’re going to want the best bang for your buck, and Seat Guru will break down exactly what each class on each airline receives. Easy!

Will you be using Seat Guru the next time you fly?
