There are some things that everyone should bring when they travel. They go with everything, can be mixed and matched, and no matter what the weather is, you know you’ll end up wearing it at least once. You know that, with just a few things, you can have something that’s appropriate for any occasion.

1. At Least One Pair of “Nice” Shoes

Bringing a pair of shoes that aren’t covered in scuff marks is probably a good idea. Usually I opt for flats.  For any time you might need to look pulled together while abroad, a nice shoe can change the entire outfit from casual to stepping it up a bit more (this pun was not intended, but now I’m glad I used it).

2. A White Button Down

White button downs are always clean looking, can be used for a casual or a more sophisticated look, and always look pulled together. For some reason, there’s nothing better than someone in a crisp white top for almost any occasion. The other great thing is that white button downs can be worn all year round, so they’re always seasonally appropriate.

3. A Little Black Dress/Nice Shirt & Blazer

A little black dress can go anywhere. No matter what, it looks polished for every occasion, and is the easiest thing to dress up. The cliche of owning a little black dress is actually a fashion staple for every woman to have in her closet, and in her suit case. Now, for me, the men’s version of that is a button down and blazer. Ties can come off too formal, while this combo can be either casual, dressed up, and is a flexible look.

What do you make sure to make no matter where you are going?
